Dr. Matthew Hogan, M.D.
Founding Partner & Urologist
Dr. Matthew Hogan is a Founding Partner of Texas Regional Urology and a board-certified urologist who has been practicing since 2003. He sees men and women 18 and older at our The Woodlands and Tomball offices, with particular focus on enlarged prostate — from medication through minimally invasive and surgical treatment — along with kidney stones, low testosterone, erectile dysfunction, men's health, and prostate and bladder cancer.
He performs a broad range of in-office procedures, including cystoscopy, conventional and MRI-fusion guided prostate biopsy, UroLift, Rezum, bladder Botox, SpaceOAR, Xiaflex, vasectomy, and testosterone pellet insertion.
Dr. Hogan grew up moving from place to place with his father's Air Force career and has called Texas home since high school. He earned his undergraduate degree from Incarnate Word College, now the University of the Incarnate Word, and came to Houston for medical school at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, now McGovern Medical School at UTHealth. He completed his urology residency through the University of Texas at Hermann Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center. In 2012, he founded Texas Regional Urology with his fellow physicians.
Dr. Hogan works to make patients comfortable discussing sensitive topics, and to explain diagnoses and treatment options in plain terms — so patients can make decisions with a clear picture of what's involved.
He played four years of college basketball on scholarship, reaching the national tournament in his junior and senior years. As a senior he served as team captain, was named Academic All-American, and received the Emil S. Liston Award. These days he coaches basketball in a local youth league and his son's AAU team, and rarely misses a day at the gym. He has been married to his best friend since 2002, and they have a daughter and a son.
He is also a dedicated mountaineer. He has summited Kilimanjaro in Tanzania; Mt. Rainier twice, by different routes; Kala Patthar and Island Peak in the Himalayas; and Cayambe, Cotopaxi, and Chimborazo in Ecuador — and trekked to Everest Base Camp along the way.
